Message Desk :

Welcometo the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Vel Tech High Tech Dr.Rangarajan Dr.Sakunthala Engineering College, Chennai. We started our journey in the year 2004 with an intake of 120 seats. Currently, the intake of program is 60. The department is dedicated to offering students an excellent mechanical engineering education that will help them prosper in their field of study. It serves to maintain an academic environment that is vital for promoting a culture of research, development, and innovation among the Mechanical Engineering Department's students and faculty. The department offers training programmes with a focus on practical skills in the fields of design, manufacturing, and thermal engineering, which are the backbone of the mechanical industry.

The department also works to cultivate in its students a sense of teamwork, leadership, communications skills, and a quest for lifelong learning. This goal is accomplished by using project-based learning techniques and multidisciplinary Mini Projects where students gain practical experience with tools and machinery. The department works tirelessly to aid students advance both their technical and professional skills by exposing them to industry culture, industrial visits, expert lectures, and seminars.

Over the past years, we have grown in the field of software-enabled Design and Manufacturing centred Mechanical Engineering curriculum and research. Our curriculum's main goal is to teach students technical skills, foster their capacity for problem-solving, and encourage the development of new technologies. The department offers several interdisciplinary courses to offer students the multidisciplinary expertise they need to pursue their interests. The course materials are updated on a regular basis to reflect recent technical advancements.
