INTERNAL COMPLAINTS COMMITTEE(ICC)



Objective / Aim:

  1. Promote gender equality among students and employees through seminars, workshops, and competitions to prevent discrimination and sexual harassment against women.
  2. Establish clear procedures for prohibiting, addressing, resolving, and prosecuting acts of discrimination and sexual harassment against women, students, and employees.
  3. Handle cases of discrimination and sexual harassment promptly, ensuring timely support and assistance for victims.
  4. Recommend suitable punitive actions against offenders to uphold accountability.

Associated activities / functions:

  • Conduct guest lectures to raise awareness about gender sensitization.
  • Organize student-focused seminars on topics such as gender equality, eliminating gender bias or discrimination, and addressing gender-based violence.
  • Arrange intra-college and inter-college competitions for students to promote gender awareness and inclusivity.

Tenure of the members:

Section 4(3) of the POSH Act specifies the tenure of the members of the internal complaints committee in the workplace. It specifies that the members along with the presiding officer, shall not occupy the office for a period of more than 3 years from the date of nomination.
