As A Dean - School of Biotechnology and Chemical Engineering (SoBC), I am incredibly proud of heritage of providing practical, experiential-based education that our college has upheld for the past few years. Our undergraduate programs prepare our students to become leaders with the moral depth and intellectual intensity necessary to meet the challenges of a time of critical transition in society. Since their inception, Biotechnology and Chemical Engineering programmes strive to be the best among various institutes catering to needs of biotech and chemical industries.This is accomplished through both cutting-edge, state-of-the-art research and professional training that combines the technical and scientific requirements of these industries.

The  School of Biotechnology and Chemical Engineering (SOBC) is supported by faculty with diverse specialization like Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Environmental Engineering and Thermodynamics, Petroleum Processing and Petrochemical, Material science and Technology , Marine Biology , Bioprocess Engineering & Environmental Biotechnology , Nano Technology , Plant Biotechnology, Marine Biotechnology etc. The faculty has succeeded in achieving each of their career objectives over the years by updating themselves with recent technologies. We have a well established state of the art laboratories and Research centres equipped with required infrastructure and other facilities to achieve both the academic and research targets of students and Faculty members.

Throughout the years, the school has trained several graduates who were and are holding senior key positions and significantly contributing to the development and prosperity of the chemical and biotechnology industries. All of this was made possible by our institute's signature idea, "Activities beyond Classroom," which was implemented together with the institute's intensive training programme.

The School has established a vision to strengthen its standing as the field leader among the greatest institutes in India, in both fundamental and applied science and research, in order to keep up with this rapid development and to successfully meet new challenges. This is in addition to educating outstanding engineers and researchers who will lead the biotech and chemical industries.

The major challenge for today’s Engineering Educational Institutions is to accommodate the ever varying aspirations of the younger generation because of increasingly changing demand and development in industries. We constantly put efforts to accommodate these aspirations by fine tuning the academics of college with innovative and practical oriented Teaching - Learning practices along with other developmental activities

Our goal is to change the world through education. It may be sound idealistic, but this is precisely our long term goal and can be achieved by everyone from our Mechanical and Civil Engineering Programs through faculty and staff and in turn to Students and Alumni.

Our Mechanical and Civil Programs has the vision to produce Quality Engineers to meet the industrial challenges of the current requirement/ present scenario. We focus on our students by providing them with a world-class outcome based education and hands-on experience through research. We prepare graduates who are not only well equipped in Engineering subjects and software engineering fundamentals, but also have the ability to integrate the learning across the foundation areas to apply them in practical situations.

Our Programs Result and Placement speaks about our excellence with many of our students bringing laurel to the college by getting highest ranking in university exams and huge number of Placements in National & Multinational Companies with good salary packages and it is achieved through Activities Beyond Classroom (ABC). Moreover our Students’ creativity and determination is evident by their continuous success in various fields.

          My advice is always to have great thinking, Work plan, develop Self-Confidence with more hopes , make self assessment & strengthen your potential, keep on updating all recent Innovative ideas through continuous learning & develop  technical skills through  hands on work practices . The Research and Development centre of Vel Tech High Tech Dr.Rangarajan Dr.Sakunthala Engineering College aims to nurture sustainable practical, experimental and research based education in emerging areas and to develop research capability of UG, PG and Ph.D degree candidates and faculty of institute by providing necessary requirements to take up the research projects. Research centres equipped with required infrastructure and other facilities have been established in all departments for achieving the goals. Collaborations with leading science and technology organizations, Universities and industry nurtured by the Institute provide the intensity required for meaningful research.

The performance of the R&D centres of various departments is measured in terms of funding received, industrial consultancy, publications, patents and conferences/seminars organized. Institute faculty have received research grants from the various funding agencies like AICTE, DST, DBT, SERB, TNSCT and other funding agencies.

The college has implemented research based learning (RBL) by incorporation of Mini project course in the Undergraduate curriculum. This gives a formal platform to students to implement their research ideas under the able guidance of faculty for better prospect. The Outcome of this research activity is turned into quality paper publications/patents.

Consistently our students and faculty participate in conferences, seminars, workshops, industry interactions, Intellectual property awareness seminars etc. It is fruitful for them to update about the recent research developments and industry applications.

The facilities and resources provided by the institution will undoubtedly boost the students’ talent, which will ultimately lead to their contribution of ideas for the ongoing improvement of society and the nation. As  Dean of  Training & Placement at Vel Tech High Tech Dr.Rangarajan  Dr.Sakunthala Engineering College, I really feel immense pleasure happy to Welcome you all .

In our Institute, we have dedicated Training and placement cell headed by Dean-Training & Placement, Head-Training & Placement with more than 30 trained faculty members from various departments. We decentralized this Training & Placement activity by allocating individual Departmental Placement coordinators, so that the related activities can be communicated to each and every individual without delay. The Placement cell will move and make all students with the right kind of knowledge, technical skills, ability to think out of the box and innovation. For conducting placement activities we have network of more than 125 MNC companies.      

Hard work is no more the key to success alone but individuals are expected to work smarter and consistently without failure. The Training and Placement Department gives effective coaching and Test towards Logical, Verbal, Automata, Quantz, Coding Skills, Communication Skills Development, External Company Specific Training too. Communication Skills Training is exclusively meant for all Students with the Student - Faculty ratio of 20:1. Company details, Recent Innovative Technology and Job opportunities were transformed to students through Entrepreneurs, Alumni’s and Industry Experts in all domains periodically.

Training & Placement is a process that starts from the moment a student takes admission in a specific program and ends with the final placement and absorption of the student in more than two companies. The process doesn't end here, where as the Department continues to support its alumni in their journey of career progression.

Our Institute maintains an unbeaten placement record with good Salary Packages. The Placement cell gets involved in the process right from corporate interactions throughout the year, to pre-placement talks and coordinating students skill activities throughout the year. With the right vision, right people and programs in the right place, we at the Training & Placement Department make an endeavor of creating the right set of inputs for different industries towards Success.

The Department of MBA has collaborative arrangements with leading business houses and professional associations in Industrial Management and Entrepreneurial Development.  With business education at an inflection point, we strive to equip our future leaders with competence and character to address emerging global business and social challenges. Industrial Relations team acts as a liaison between the corporate world and the student community. We bridge the Industry – Academia gap by through various Activities Beyond Classrooms (ABC) such as Expert Sessions, Workshops, Industrial Visits, In plant training / Internships, Value Added Courses, Webinars, Conferences, Seminars,  and Signing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with reputed organizations,, Centres of Excellences and thereby promote Outcome Based Education (OBE),  in the areas of Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Bio Technology Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science Engineering & Machine Learning, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Artificial Intelligence & Data Sciences, and Management Sciences.

Industry – Institute relationship brings a synergistic and symbiotic value addition to the programs being offered.
